OK, this cartoon was drawn in a very ordinary style for the late 70's or early 80's. It was about King Arthur, his knights, and later in the series, his adventures with a big stupid man and a blond little boy named Christopher or something. One of his knights was Tristram, who had black hair and was good-looking and very somber, and played a harp that also served as a bow. Arthur was young-looking and had brown shoulder-length hair. The villain of the series was King Lavik, I think, whose cohort was this powerful witch dressed in black. At one point in the series there was something about trekking up a mountain "following the path of the sun" and they fought a dragon when they made it to the top... During Arthur's adventures with the dude and the boy, he concealed his identity as king, and one time the three of them had to fight some villains in a flying ship. It was a dignified cartoon, nothing goofy except the antics of the fat man and the boy, and I'm going CRAZY trying to find it!!

I found the answer... It was an anime series from 1979, originally in Japanese but translated into a bunch of different languages. It's original name was Entaku no Kishi Monogatari: Moero Arthur, and the English version was called King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (not to be confused with King Arthur and the Knights of Justice, which was a silly 80's cartoon about a football team that gets kidnapped by Merlin to Replace the real Arthur and his knights.) Entaku no Kishi Monogatari: Moero Arthur was produced by Toei Animation. Thanks anyway for trying!
