If you wonder why we elect bad leaders just look at how many people respond to questions like "did clinton like that bj?" or "is Bush porking condi?" as opposed to "what do we do about cheating voting machines?". I hate to say it but I guess we get who we deserve most of the time.

100%. I have to give it to people like Karl Rove, they are like the PT Barnum of our day. They understand their is a sucker born every minute, and they know how to distract us from what is really important with stupid, brightly colored bullsh!t. PT Barnum saidsomething like, "no one ever went broke overestimating the stupidity of the public". There it is.

Yes, and I think quite a bit comes from a feeling of helplessness,
people feel free to speculate about politicians private lives, but they feel they can do nothing to change the really important things, and most of them are too happy to leave that to somebody else.

Even apart from that, so many people complain about rigged elections and manipulated voting machines, but I have yet to see the first mass initiative to change that BEFORE the next election.

I take solice in my hopes that many of the people here are saying things for reactions and do not really believe what they are saying.

If Liberals really do think all Conservatives are racist war mongers, or if the Conservatives really think all liberals are pot smoking baby killers then I take solice that there is a good chance that they will be part of the 60% of the registered voters who won't excercise their right come election day.
