I know that unbalanced tires in the front can lead to a rough ride, but is this the same for back tires too?

Thanks!

Yes, all tires affect the ride quality. Rear tires should be balanced as well.

All 4. Unbalanced tires puts stress on the wheel bearings and accelerate wear on them. This would lead to wear on the tires, bearings and increased fuel consumption. The last does not apply if you have an oil rig in your backyard. ;-)

Oh by the way most cars need their camber and alignment checked regularly. Otherwise, wear on your tire is faster up to 50%. This too on all 4 wheels. Contrary to popular belief, all wheels need to be aligned on cars that have the adjustment features. Older cars have them only on their front wheels.

Why do half the job? Have all tires balanced, rotated, and the air pressure adjusted since on front wheel drive cars the rear air pressure is somewhat less than the front tires. Have Fun!!

Wow!!! I made level TWO, also, these other 12 answers are great entertainment. Even though this is what I do to pay the bills, it never amazes me that so many have such bad advice/information. Yes all four. Imbalance wears tires funny and creates vibration issues no matter where on the vehicle.
