Ah, the days of breaking through my school's web-filter...
1) Log on through Safe Mode (restart the computer, and keep holding F8), then try the username Administrator.
2) Try logging onto that computer, rather than the network (log-on screen, select "This computer" from the drop-down box in the advanced settings, or similar). You could try this with the Administrator username too.
3) Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN settings - disable proxy (if enabled).
4) If you can get the WEP key for any wireless connection in the school, you're pretty much untraceable, and unfiltered.
5) Since Microsoft doesn't like its sites being filtered, http://webmessenger.msn.com works most of the time. As does http://www.e-messenger.net
6) The classic - get a teacher's username and password.
7) Try searching the website of the company who make the filtering software - sometimes you can find a "bypass" download for administrators in an emergency.
8) Do what a little kid at my old school did - run into the server room, pull the plug out, and run to a different computer to go on.
9) Install a different version of Windows over the top of the current one - it'll wipe the drives of all the software.
10) Run a different web browser, maybe off a memory stick or CD.
11) Go Start - Run. Type in command. Now, type in ping (address of website) and hit enter. So, for example, you'll be on the screen:
C:/WINDOWS/system32/
Say you want to go on Myspace:
C:/WINDOWS/system32/ping www.myspace.com
It'll give you the IP address of the site - 4 numbers between 0 and 255, with dots in between:
e.g. 39.217.163.2 (just made up)
Alternatively, you could use the ip command instead of ping, or do a WHOIS search on the internet.
12) Password the BIOS. This will piss off every system administrator you know, causing loads of hassle, and meaning they have to take the thing to bits. Not technically a way to bypass security, but certainly a way to give the middle-fingered salute to the admin. :D
13) Visit http://www.tinyurl.com and get a shortened URL for a website of your choice. Sometimes the security won't recognise it, and you'll get through.
Hope that helps!
