It seems by some of the answers to Paul H questions that there is a lot of anti-scottish people on here.

If by some means it was made possible for Scotland to become fully independant and all the ministers that were in westminster were to transfer...

Who would Westminster be left with...David Cameron and the tories.

Be carefull what you wish for.

I think you would have had to be living on Mars for the last 10 years not to know that Tony Blair was born in Scotland. However the whole principle of Labour Party policy is that it matters not where you were born, or even where you went to school, but that everyone have the same opportunities to reach the top.

Whether Blair believes that, or has done anything to help make it happen, is open to debate; but it is what seperates Real Labour from the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.

i think attending Fettes college at a time even as a Scottish accent does no longer make it onto television (alongside with another non abode Counties accent) he may have had a Scottish accent 'inspired' out of him. As somebody else has talked about, the Edinburgh accent isn't as different because the Glaswegian one in spite of everything. and on condition that anybody south of Scotland looks to trust that each and every one Scots sound like Billy Connolly, he's not any longer perceived as having a Scottish accent in any respect. although, in case you comprehend what to take heed to for, you could locate a moderate side that does no longer belong in England. as far as accents go, some human beings are merely better plagued by residing in a special area than others. My spouse's grandfather changed into born in Wales yet raised in Oxford from even as he changed into nonetheless a touch one. he's lived in Scotland on condition that 1944 even as he changed into printed right here with the Royal military. And sixty 4 years later, he nonetheless sounds like an Englishman. ideas you, accent or no accent, that guy is Welsh to his ft. A mate I joined the military with 8 years in the past now has an accent it truly is quite a lot thoroughly Plymouth with no longer something better than a contact of his unique one.
