An Apple uses Apple software and a Windows one uses Microsoft software. I find Apples slightly less user friendly but I am used to Windows.

There are three main types of computer systems Windows, Apple and Linux. Windows PC are obviously the most popular type of computer system that can process information much faster to allow program to run faser than the other because of the powerful process chips, Intel Inside celeron. The difference between Windows and Mac is that it does not have the similar device components inside. However the mac hasn't recenlty been given the the Pentium Processor

As a user of both platforms, end-user wise, not much difference.
Operating system and hardware - the total opposite.

Both have windows - (Just where do you think Bill Gates got Windows from?) with very similar ways to navigate in. A Start/Apple Menu, Control Panel/Chooser, System Properties/About My Mac, x/- to minimize & close windows. Why both even have a special key on the keyboard the Windows logo on a PC, and what looks like a 4-leaf clover on the MAC - they operate the same.

It would not take you long to transfer the skills you that learned using your PC or MAC to each other. They have the same basic GUI -Graphic User Interface.

By the way, MAC's are almost exclusively used in the Graphic and Digital Arts field. Many educational entities have MAC's in their computer labs.

Hardware components themselves are very very much different between the two.
You wouldn't be able to install a Mac OS onto any PC it would have to be Apple specific hardware.
At the risk of a pun
it's about as much difference between an apple and a banana.
They're both fruits, but different flavours :)

The biggest difference is operating system. The operating system is the software through which all programs are run – on PCs you load up Windows to run programs like Word or Internet Explorer: on Macs you load up Mac OS (operating system) to run programmes written in a programming language for Macs. The offshoot of this is that programs (games, applications and utilities – files that ‘do’ things) are not compatible across the platforms. In recent years many programs have been re-written for Mac OS meaning that popular applications like Word, Excel, Internet Explorer or MSN messenger are available for Macs.

Besides the OS, PC has a larger variety of add-ons that are upgradeable to the original, purchased box. Apple is continually upgrading and each new line they bring out creates leagues of orphan boxes that won't upgrade.
