Why is that when it comes to prostitution, promiscuouity, etc...men are labeled 'dog's...but the women are seen as 'liberated' and 'sexy'...and it's overlooked...?
Why is that when a woman has a kid out of wed-lock she's considered the victim...but when it's a man it's assumed he only won the custody of the child because he's a man?
Why is that when a man is in his 30's and single, he's scared of commitment , but when it's a woman : she's smart and strong for not compramising for a man?
Why is that when a man is up front about wanting to be in a sexual relationship, he's seen as a 'pig'...but when it's a womman, she's seen a 'strong willed' woman who knows what she wants...
Why is it that when a man wants to be wealthy and live a comfortable life, he's seen as a stereotypical, self-pleasing man, or if career-minded and strong, then he's a chauvinist...but women who do the same are considered 'ambitious', 'modern', and 'in control'?
When will men and women truly be equal?

I'm not sure that your first example is true. Promiscuouity in women is seen as "she's a slut". The rest of it I agree with.
Now, Thank GOD you bring it up. Here's my example: My son works for wal-mart. Wal-mart did away with the "male associate for carryout" page. Because so many of the men who work there complained that if the women took a job that says "must be able to lift 50 pounds" then they need to lift 50 pounds. It's now "any free associate for customer carryout". So, when he heard a page from a woman co-worker saying "Male associate for carryout" he went over to her and said "I need a female associate to make my lunch and get my slippers". She took it to the boss and my son won the argument. My point is that we will be equal when we want to be. As long as there are people (of both sexes) who think bias and gender roles are the norm then we will never be equal. People of one sex or the other always seem to need to be "better" and that's the thing that keeps us from being equal. Let's save our gender role expectations for the bedroom.

1) I still hear a LOT more women referred to as sluts than men. I personally tack on "man" to make "man-slut", but even the language, upon inspection, shows that the word usually refers to women. I want to know why it's ok for straight men to be promiscuous, but when gay men are it's assumed they'll never be anything but.
2)Most often, women win the custody battles. The courts still tend to have that as the "default" win, unless there's a lot of evidence to the contrary. So...you've got something backwards going on there.
3)Haven't heard these. Like the other two...where have you heard this?
4)If a man is up front about wanting sex, that's a helluvalot better than NOT being up front about just wanting sex. Also, most of the rest of society would still see the woman described as a "tramp", "slut", or something else along those lines.
5)I've NEVER heard anyone complain about a man wanting a wealthy life; in this society, most people do. If he wants to do that at the expense of women (meaning he's afraid of a FAIR competition with them, or it's a non-compromising foregone conclusion that if someone's going to stay home with the kids, it'll be the wife), then he's chauvinist. You don't get to be called "modern" or "in control" because you've always had the opportunity.
Indeed, when WILL men and women truly be equal? In the meantime, we'll have to settle for equity.

men and women will never be true equal because from the beginning of time Man has had control of everything now that women are doing thing men do and can get away with it man think something is wrong with it. NOT all women are bless to be seen in the position light in the situation you name. Women get it just a bad as men but not that often.

men and women wont truly be EQUAL in all aspects but they are in some. Lets start with oh ...the prostitution. I always see it as she is a slut and laxy too cant get a JOB so she gets paid to sleep with men and spread aids. yuck definately not liberated and sexy. and the men that go to them are dogs and they are just as bad. the wedlock woman is a victim only if she had a man and then he left but barely that because she should have been MARRIED first! a man in his 30's is scared of commitment only if he has had the chance to get married but let it slip away because of cold feet and if a man is upfront about his sexuality with another woman who is upfront about her sexuality then it aok (yall should be married) but if she isnt then yes he is a pig if he cant respect that and has a lack of self control. and it is vice-versa with the woman and the man who wants to be wealthy is seen as self-pleasing if, in his pursuit of happiness , he goes after money and jeapordizes his fam the ones he should be loving most not the $$$. but if he doesnt then tally-ho. And as for the woman, they usually dont forget about their familys in that pursuit but if they do then they'r just as selfish. hope this answered your question. or should i say ...gripe.:)

They will never be equal as far as concepts go due to how we still raise our girls virses the boys. Boys get sports, its best to have the boy on the football team or soccar but girls sucess is measured by being a cheerleader or a pagent winner at that young age. We fill our boys with movies of violance through avatars and g. i. joes who seem to be fighting forever and never resolving anything. And we wonder why this war is going on forever in iraq. Then we fill our daughter with disney movies where the girl is working against all odds to acchieve what? The once thought ontouchable man to come rescue her from her average life and make her a princess. I don't remeber snow white doing anything worth changing the world other then putting up with 7 angry men and dieing waiting for a guy she met once to kiss her and ride her off into the sunset. How do we expect our girls to change the world when we teach them to wait for someone else to just pick us up and take care of us because we look pretty. The boys are no better, they don't get the message to change the world either just destroy or rule it through their cartoons. So in essance we are raising a bunch of Hitlers and Communist. Then there are the toys we are so upset when there's a school shooting but every toy a boy has to play with comes with a rediculasly large sword or gun to blast everyone away and girls get stuck with barbie that never keeps a job and her boyfriend ken who never has a job and rides around in her barbie jeep. Brats are no better because they don't even have jobs..they sit around and shop. So we will never be equal until we raise them to be equal and with better morals.

We'll never be treated equal (which sucks) because human nature will never allow it. Someone must always be better than someone else. Whether it is one sex over the other, one country over another, or just one person over another. Its in our DNA to always try to be better than someone else. As long as we have that "trait" we will never be equals. :(
