i'm embarrassed to admit this, yet even nevertheless I' ve considered Independence Day a minimum of 10 cases, I nonetheless get choked up on the section the place the President provides the speech. In all truthfully his speech in that movie is extra desirable than any speech George W. Bush ever gave in genuine existence! i will style of see your component yet i don't probable think of it is patronising to something of the international. in actuality, i think of only the different. he's in actuality saying that the international would desire to come mutually to combat the extraterrestrial beings instead of bickering amonst ourselves (like in genuine existence). He additionally says that for the time of that case Independence Day might now not be purely an American holiday yet a holiday for the full international!

Yea, I've always liked that one, but the one in Armagedon is better I think. The best single dialog speech of all time is Jack Nicholson's A Few Good Men "you can't handle the truth" speech.

For me, the best speech/monologue was delivered by Brad Davis in "Midnight Express" (1978) when he's sentenced to 30 years in jail. Brilliant script and one hell of an acting job.

For us non US citizens, those exaggerated speeches by American Presidents/Heroes are worthless. That's one of the reasons why I didn't like the movie.

At least that's my opinion, and I could be wrong.

It was not only the speech but the fact that the movie had all the ingredients for a typical Hollywood movie. Whit , black, pretty women, children and even a dog. How could it not fail?

No way, its rubbish.

Best movie speech ever has to be the "you can't handle the truth" monologue in A Few Good Men.

Cher in Clueless comes a pretty close second "And in conclusion, may I please remind you that it does not say RSVP on the Statue of Liberty"

Yes and there are also some fantastic ones in Armageddon like where Bruce Willis tells Billy Bob Thornton that his men will be having a day off in case it's their last night on earth

I'd think about that for a second... watch the monologue by Donald Sutherland in JFK: see how well he delivers it, how long the thing is and how few cuts there are. That's a speech...

Do I smell cheese?

C'mon the film was so predictably crap. Aliens gonna destroy the world - America gonna save the world blah blah blah.

And the pullman speech? well that was possibly the only entertaining part - it was ridiculously funny - unlike Will Smith.

FINALLY!

A question about movies: excellent!

Yes, I whole-heartedly agree. If only our current president was as awe-inspiring. Instead, we are stuck with a kleptocratic megalomaniac who's regime was responsible for the Towers falling and for the constant stripping of my civil liberties.

(sigh) If only life were more like the movies... :)
