I have come to the conclusion that it must have existed at one time long ago, and was wiped out by a catastrophe. What do you think?

Atlantis did exist. If you read the history books, they talk about how Plato wrote about his travles to Atlantis. When science expidition's were deploid around the Atlantic ocean, they found a solid road of rock just below the spot where Atlantis was said to be. And, to go even further, in Plato's writing's, Atlantis is said to be the richest land in the world at that time. Full of vegitation and animals and all sort's of fruit's and vegitables. Well, scientist's conducted an expirement and found that , if Atlantis did exist, then where the location of the continent was, combined with the climate and temperature would produce an economic richness described in Plato's writting's. And, if you connect all of the pieces of the world's continents to one anouther, you will find that all of them fit into place except for one huge missing piece right on the outskirts of Europe and Asia. And I don't think that Plato would lie about traveling somewhere that supposedly never exsisted.

Plato writes about having visited a place called Atlantis which was later destroyed by sinking into the sea. Many scholars dispute the accuratcy of his claim. And if there was such a place, it appears to have been a small island off Italy that was destroyed in an earthquake. Nothing like the legends that have grown up around the name.

Since the whole idea arose from a brief mention by Plato (that comes off more as an allegory of perfect society than a history on a real one) I tend to believe its myth and legend that has grown over the years with retelling. I haven't seen any compelling evidence for the existence of a lost (and very technologically advanced) society wiped out by catastrophe.

It's be cool though....

Yes, but . . . Solon got this story from an Egyptian priest, but it was before the Arabs had invented zero, Egyptian numbers were tricky, and he seems to have multiplied all the distances, dates, sizes and other numbers by 10. Aristotle passed the inflated story on to us. Scaled down by 10, it is a pretty good fit to the Minoan civilization on Crete from about 2500 BC, wiped out by a huge tidal wave from the eruption of Thera (Santorini) in about 1450 BC.

Yes it existed back when the Egyptians were a world power. A volcano wiped the island out and survivors went to Egypt for help. The island was near present day Crete.

I agree. I mean, anything is possible, people need to realize that. Dinosaurs were wiped out by a catastophe, so why couldn't there have been a once great and thriving city that had the same type of situation happen. Who cares if there is little or no evidence to suggest that it existed, theres no evidence suggesting that it didn't either.

Yes it existed. They destroyed themselves by becoming greedy with power and overcome by ego. They dealt heavily with crystals, energy and cloning among other things. They were advanced spirtually using levitation and skills which we call magic but which was really a way of life for them. But their greed for power began too much. They started to do unspeakable things like taking a person and merging them with animal parts which is where myths of half man half horse or half man half goat comes from. They blew themselves up dealing with crystal energy. Some Atlanteans tried to intervene with good crystal energy but by then it was too late so fortunately some of them got out of there before it was too late going to different parts of the world, Egypt and Easter Island to name a few. But don't expect many people to believe that. If it's not right in front of them, if they can't feel it, smell it or touch it they simply won't believe it. That just lets you know how limited the human mind is...willingly. We are capable of great things but we've been brainwashed by society that those things are not possible or their taboo or they're done by the devil which is craziness to me because even Jesus (Yeshua) said that if you would be able to do even greater things than he.

Yes Alantis existed. The latest theory that I've heard is that both Crete and Santorini are remnants of Atlantis.
