One cannot lead unless the others want to follow. A leader must listen and respect his/her followers (workers). A leader must serve his/her workers, so he/she must be a servant before he can be a leader.

After being an infantry leader for over 10 years, I've learned the biggest part is getting to know the people who work for you, their strengths and weaknesses, and knowing how to combine everyone into a team to work together that overcomes and supports one another.
