What is the real meaning of the word Philosophy?

And why is the history of the philosophy , interesting and important?
I need to have more poetic answers to this questions cause i am

The term philosophy comes from the Greek word Φιλοσοφία (philo-sophia), which means "love of wisdom."

I ammended this because Wisdom is the application of knowledge, want this to be correct.

So, philosophy is as much a part of our tools for survival as technology, politics and economics. As the phrase goes, philosophy is hard-wired into us. Philosophy means the "love of Sophia", the love of wisdom. Wisdom is just as important as the money in your pocket or the tunes on your I-pod.
