Of India's 1000 yrs history why it has not become leaders in many ways?

India has actually more than 1000 years history - it is more like 3000+ years old.

But unfortunately, India was not one single country. There were many different provinces/ kingdoms in India from long ago and all of them fought with one another. This weakened them and made it easier for foreign invaders like Mahmud of Ghazni, Mahmud of Ghori, Alexander, Timurlane, Babur to invade and weaken the different kingdoms in India at different times.

At one time most of northern India was united under the Moghul kings but they too got weak over the years and resistance from some regions which did not want to be included in the mughal kingdom. Similarly south India too had it's strong kings.

This made it easier for the French, Portugues, Dutch and British forces later on to get into the fragmented country and rule India for over 300 years. Finally when the British managed to get the entire country united under 1 flag, did the Indians manage to wake up and fight for their freedom under some very able leaders, like Gandhi, Nehru, Patel.

I ask myself this question all the time because I am also Indian. I just think that because of our political leaders. The destroy most of everything that we have, so that takes away a lot of our leadership because that is how the US and Australia got it's leadership, by having nature,tree,etc. Then I think we don't have a lot of educated people because in India, you are either very rich or you don't have any money at all. India had been the richest country in the world. It had a lot of leadership back then. I think thats why one of the Oceans is named after India, because it was a very rich country. When the British came, everything changed. They started taking over, taking everybody's money. It was horrible. I think that if the British hadn't come, India would have had big sucess, even more than America.

Dear....we had a good history....but unfortunately.....the last 200-300 years broke our backbone...specifically financially....the invaders frm time to time....looted us again and again....so we were never able to move forward as comparatively the way europe and west went on.....today if at all the european / western countries are doin good it coz of our wealth....and when money is sucked out...poverty controls our mind......we are still struggling to survive....so how can you expect us to be leaders.....but dont lose heart....inspite of such adverse conditions the last 10 years is changing the face of our country slowly.....we have utilized the weapon of poverty to our advantage i.e., population...yes....in fact the one of the largest inward of money into india is frm the ppl working away ie., the software engineers....the ppl working in the middle east...etc., ......our weakness has become our strength today....and we have again started standing against the west in terms of industry....so it will take some time.....dont lose heart.....we need to just focus....the only thing we lack is a good leadership...who could be just honest....todays bunch of politicians are the biggest hurdle...i wish....they cud hv been more sincere.....our lives wud not have been so miserable....anywayz....as we fought the invaders.....we will fight this also....so that atleast the next generation finds this place a bit ...if not completely...better place to live in.....a country called INDIA.......

why do you think the english and all other europeans wanted to trade with us and indian history i not 1000 yrs old its 5000 yrs old learn history and it was the richest country in the world along with china until the english came in

Just because India has 1000 years of history doesn't mean that it can beome a leader in anything.

Because the caste system has fragmented, divided and thus paralyzed the country so that it cannot get anything accomplished. The sad part is that most people there don't even realize it.

IT WAS A LEADING COUNTRY DURING GUPTA PERIOD BUT, IN THE MEDIEVAL PERIOD, DUE TO INVASION, BY VARIOUS EXTERNAL FORCES AND THE BRITISH, WHO SWINDLED, MAJOR NATURAL RESOURCES AND DIVIDED THE COUNTRY AND RULED. THEY DID NOT ALLOW, INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT, IN INDIA DURING INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
