I completely agree. As for why the English act as they do: the world powers made them give back their empire (which they claimed with the cunning use of flags - sneaking up, killing the natives, sticking a flag in it and claiming it in the name of Queen/King and country) and they're still a bit upset about that. As they've only really got us left they're not going to let us go without a fight. They need to believe they're still bigshots (hence being America's lapdog), when they're anything but.
Someone above me said we're reliant on English technology. Ha! Where would we be without telephones, television, radar, penicillin and deep fried mars bars? Just a few of Scotland's inventions.

33 plus billion pounds of English tax payers money goes each year to subsidise Scotland if this money was removed there would be very real hardship to all those living in Scotland. Personally I believe that England should have it's own assembly in the same way that Scotland and Wales do this way we would loose the interference in English statutes - many legislation's that the Scots have turned down have been brought in to affect England purely on the vote of Scots MP's. We would also loose all those MP's with Scottish seats. I think this would be fair. You could have back Mr Brown and Mr Reid. Maybe Scotland should be given a chance to stand alone using it's own income, leaving England and Wales alone it would be interesting to see the result.

You are part of Great Britain.
We all pay our taxes to the same govt, headed by a Scot by the way with a Scottish Chancellor.
England is not subsidising Scotland anymore than they subsidise Wales.
England also has an oil industry, fishing industry and farming industry or did you think these were exclusively north of the border?

You should read the rest of the book, such as where the oil comes from how much your fish ads to the economy and if we could do away with buying Scottish beef and produce our farmers in England would be far happier because they could sell more of their own.
The same old Scottish rhetoric perhaps you would like to mention the amount of money you take from England I just wonder how long Scotland would last as nation on its own. It was England that dragged you screaming into the 21st century perhaps it should be a time let you go and see how well you can survive
Scottish on YA are always bitching about England you rarely find an English person carrying on about Scotland or Wales or Ireland all with their constant 'I want' - its time to grow up and realise we are one nation because it works for all ( even though Ireland are entering talks to become one nation apart)

Most of the money in England comes from Scotland,Your having a laugh.Your oil.If it wasn't for the Americans it would still be down there. And who paid for your parliament building at 10 times over budget the Scots? Not at all. Have a word with Gordon Brown ( the scot) he's taken plenty away from the people of the UK over the years. You talk a load of crap, and I heard plenty of that whilst living in Scotland for 10 years.

If Scotland were Independant the oil would lie in scottish terratorial waters.
That's why we have this Mickey Mouse parliment to try and appease the nation.
When Westminster f's up. It is all to easy to say we should be independant. There is not a MP that would be anywhere near good enought to be PM for Scotland. That's including Gordon Brown.
Why have people answered this question with insults?
And for the person who said take back all the scotts in Westminster...why would we? Your stuck with them. Get used to it. Or use your vote...eh...Lib Dems...no Ming's a Scott...so is Kennedy. David Cameron is ALL yours.

You Scots seem to have a really big chip on your shoulders about England , what is your problem and by the way, there really is no such thing any more as Great Britain there are just two countries, one principality and one province all loosly (and sadly)bound together.Personally, i wish scotland would break away completly fom england and take your corrupt MPs with you

Please don't confuse the English people with the English government. Most of us have minds of our own and are not "brainwashed" into believing whatever the government tells us about Scotland or anything else.
