Actually, there were more school shootings in the years before Columbine than those afterward. It's just that they got more press after Columbine.
There always have been sick, demented people who did twisted, violent things, and there always will be. There is no magic cure. There is no testing that you can do to small children to determine how they will turn out.
Sometimes the world is an ugly, scary place. All you can do is focus on the positive and not spend every waking moment worrying, "what if..."

Most likely never. Just as an FYI. The worst school incident was in 1927 when Andrew Kehoe blew up a school and killed 42 people and injured many more. So schools and violence have a long history. We just hear it more in the media.

Unfortunately society is becoming more violent. Some chose to blame the weapon (gun, knife, ball bat, etc), but the problem is the person who commits the crime. There has been a break-down in the family, the media such as movies, TV, etc glorify violence. Even the music industry (Rap in particular) uses crime as its theme. I am saddened that we have so few real heros anymore...no, not even in the sports world.

as long as people are being tease and pushed to the limit, or thiers rivary violence will always be around. sometimes i worried that my kids wont have a safe future even after being here in iraq and trying to provide a better future. we all have to teach each others to keep innocent safe and find a better way to punish the guilty

I would like to know the answer to this as well.. the latest one (as far as I know) was right down the road from where I live.. three boys arrested and parents buying weapons for it.. WHAT ARE THEY THINKNING? they need help. I'm sure the schools didn't do anything to help. they let the teasing and bullying happen every day.

It's not going to stop until our government cracks down and gets serious about this country, starting with the felons from Mexico hopping the borders.

The shootings will end when we wake up and get real with gun control.
It doesn't matter how many responsible gun owners there are....just one irresponsible or suicidal gun owner causes tragedies like this.
The same goes for fast cars....they aren't needed and should be controlled too.
It is just that we have gotten used to both guns and fast cars.
