Mix a solution of boric acid and water (1 tsp to 1 pint) and flush your eyes with it. If there is something in your eye that is irritating it, this will help flush it out and soothe.

Oh.. I think I know what it is.. I have done that a number of times when folding a sheet or blanket and the edge of the sheet or blanket hits the eye ball and OH does it hurt for a while.. No, not bacteria.. just that the edge of the blanket hit your eye ball .. It will go away

you have lysosyme in your tears that cover your eye. probably not bacteria but some other matter that caused an alergic reaction.
