Bullying is the root cause of almost all of this violence. Odds are that this man's son was being bullied at the school. Teachers are responsible for not preventing this and, in many cases, are bullies themselves.

Let me guess... all guns are evil, blah, blah, blah....

Before any of the anti-gun ranters start putting their five eggs into this one, let's make one very clear point here. Guns do not kill people, PEOPLE kill people. The sicko that went to the school in question would have done the exact same thing with a knife or a club if he hadn't been able to get a gun. If you want safer schools, then quit being so PC about how people should bring up their children. The fact that parents cannot spank their kids and that kids can sue their parents, the fact that there is no burden of responsibility to teachers and other figureheads in the community is why we are having such a problem with crime. Now before we go any further - there is a distinct difference between punishing a child and committing acts of child abuse. As a child, if I did something wrong then I was chastised - I grew up to be a level headed (for the most part) and respectful adult. Other people who grew up in my neighborhood who were allowed to get away with it, grew up to be troublemakers and were frequently in trouble with law enforcement. Another HUGE precursor to violence in schools is the manner in which bullying is allowed to go unchecked because teachers are too scared to face up to their responsibility - they would rather turn a child away from school because they do not want the responsibility of protecting a child rather than do something proactive against the problem - this is something that has recently happened at a school in Belleville, MI where a young man has been turned away from his school because he has been targeted by a gang. Imagine a child who has been neglected by the school when faced with constant bullying, who has no where to turn - when he or she finally gives in to frustration and gets his or her hands on a force multiplier such as a gun or knife - well, what do you think is going to happen in circumstances like that? I rest my case.

Do you really think tougher laws would keep the evil people doing these things? Ever since time begin people have done terrible things and I think it is not worse but we just know about it the instant it happens with twenty four hours a day news. I also think so many parents or parent does not have the skills to raise children correctly and that results in a lot of crime. There are too many selfish parents that won't take the time to train their children correctly, but even the best parents have children that turn out badly.
