Britain as a whole consists of Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. England is just one part of Britain.

It's called Great Britain because we achieved many things over the years before other countries and for a long time were economically advanced.

There are many deserts across the world, e.g. Africa

The longest river in the world is the Nile which runs through Egypt.

1.
Great Britain is an informal name for the political state properly known as the United Kingdom.

This common usage is technically inaccurate as the United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland, in addition to the three countries that make up Great Britain, as shown by its full name “the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”, and also because the three countries that make up Great Britain itself collectively include over 100 other islands.[5]

The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a desert located in western India and southeastern Pakistan. It lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state

3.
The Amazon is the greatest river in the world by so many measures; the volume of water it carries to the sea (approximately 20% of all the freshwater discharge into the oceans), the area of land that drains into it, and its length and width. It is one of the longest rivers in the world and, depending upon who you talk to, is anywhere between 6,259km/3,903mi and 6,712km/4,195mi long.

For the last century the length of the Amazon and the Nile Rivers have been in a tight battle for title of world's longest river.
