why are the intelligence briefings being edited so we only know part of the story? they don't seem to care if they broadcast anything else to the public such as airport security measures. they tell that like they are forewarning terrorists so they can devise another plan. so don't tell me its to keep that kind of knowledge out of enemy hands.

Because he doesn't want you to know it's not about a "war on terror" or "fighting for freedom". It's really about THIS!...

He probably doesn't even know the complete story. I wonder if anyone truly does know the complete story. Think about how many people see and compile the information before it is presented to the president. Who knows what has be edited/cut because of time or someone thinks it's not important. I am not a fan of the current administration, nor did I vote for them. But I have to be fair even if I disagree with their actions or inaction's. I can only hope that more people get off their behinds and VOTE in all the up coming elections and make their opinions heard.

Not everything is in a "need to know" basis. There are things that have to be dealt with secretly so as to keep it out of the hands of the enemy. Every country does this. We wil most likely never know the full scope of what is going on, and frankly, I'm not sure I want to know alll the boring details.

Absolutely BigBoy!!

So Jessee...

Why would you feel it is necesary to release the whole report?

What part of jeopardizing the lives of agents who gathered the information and risking the nation's ability to work with foreign governments and to keep secret its U.S. intelligence-gathering methods, do you not understand?

And...

What makes you think that you are being told of every security measure being utilized at airports?

Girl, you need to get a clue.

Classified, Secret, and Top Secret is only for the people who need to know. That's why they are given those titles. The American people are not on a need to know basis. The President and our government will tell you what is necessary. The NY Times will tell everybody everything they find out, even if it means it will jeopardize our safety and put Americans lives at risk. If you don't know something, or only receive partial stories, there is a reason for that, YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW!

If you go back in history you will find that people who want to control others to their agenda learn early that they most effective way to do so is to tell half truths just look at what Hilter did to gain power and the similarities of the same thing happening today in this country.

When that document becomes unclassified then you will get the whole story. Right now there is information in there that you do not have the need to know. We call that National Security. We used to take that pretty seriously, it apparently is looked upon now as material for the NY times. If you want to make a conspiracy out of it, go for it. Your ulcer, not mine.

The lame excuse for not releasing the entire report is that it would "jeopardize the lives of agents who gathered the information." Nothing about releasing intelligence secrets to the enemy.

Watch for it to be released after the elections.

Edited? In what way? Parts of the Conclusions section were leaked illegally and then he released the ENTIRE Conclusions section. He can't release the entire document as its classified to protect intel sources, but he did release all of the Conclusions - unedited. It's not a rosey picture either.
