thanks everyone, thats what i thought i just wanted to make sure. i'm putting new flooring down in my house. and as far as bloblo's response....i would be more worried about your english class...than my math skills........"learnt"..?....oh please...lol

Measure the room on one side in feet, measure the adjacent side in feet, multiply these two numbers and you get the square footage of the room.

Multiply the Length by the breadth.
15 ft wide 10 foot long

15x10=150 square foot.

If it is a four sided room and the length of one side is the same as that opposite and the other two opposite sides are equal then measure of one wall in feet, the length of the adjacent wall in feet and multiply them together to get the area in square feet. If your room is a different shape you will have to ask again.

If it's a perfect rectangle, you can use the above method. (length time width) But if your room is irregular, you will have to divide the room into rectangles, multiply the lengths by the widths and then add them together. Don't use inches with the feet. You will have to either use decimal feet, or use inches and divide each dimension by 12.
