IT should have been done in your Divorce Decree. However, it can be done right now -- you just have to go back to the courthouse and get the proper paper to file, pay a small fee, and then the judge will sign the paper restoring your maiden name to you.

Yes - because there is always paperwork involved. Not sure what legal action you need to take (assuming you're in the US) but you would normally need to file some sort of statutory declaration or deed poll or something. They probably have fairly standard forms so you probably wouldn't need an attorney to draft this form but you may need to pay a filing fee when you file it with the relevant court/government authority etc.

You will probably want to change your name on all sorts of things like credit cards, drivers licence, passport etc. Don't forget that there may be costs involved in getting new documents issued in your new name. You will usually also have to provide original documentation (eg divorce decree) and, as some places will not return your original, so you may need to get numerous original copies from the court (and they will probably charge for this).

Hi, I changed my surname here in the UK. You need to get a solicitor to do the paperwork and get your surname changed by deed poll. Once they have this piece of paper you can then send it to all the necessary companies to inform them to update their records. It doesn't cost much, about £50, the worst part was learning a new signature! Hope that helps

you can have your name legally changed at any time, however there is a cost to do so, if i remember correctly its somewhere around $500-$1000 depending on the state you are in.

Depending on the state that you live in, most courts will charge fees, more than likely should be no higher than $100.00. Also not hard to do it yourself, just go to your court website and take it from there.

Yes, even if you do the legal paperwork yourself, you still have to pay court costs.
