they claim incapacity benefit, and walk from their car to the front door and around our local town both using walking sticks and looking very feable! however in the seclusion of their back garden where they can only be seen by us and other neighbours they are lifting, carrying, building, climbing ladders, and walking without their sticks at speed. its not right!! but how can the officials catch them out when they can't be seen from any public area

hey, we're your neighbours, stop taking pictures of us and sending them to the benefits office!

Take video of them and photos to get evidence. See if any of your other neighbours are willing to support you by doing the same as if you do take the evidence to the benefits office, you will have back up from other people and if yoour next door neighbours find out it was you who shopped them, you will have other neighbours' support.
I am sure that it will be kept confidential that you have shopped them so you shouldn't get any comeback from it off them.

You really should report them cos these scroungers are a strain on our already overstretched system. It makes me sick that the average person works hard for the money they earn and you see it going to people who are either too lazy to work or are scamming the system as you neighbours are obviously doing. While people can get away with scrounging off the benefits system, they will, but at the end of the day they are guilty of stealing money in my opinion as they are not entitled to it.

Whilst I understand your frustration - may I ask have you ever seen a blind person at home? You would not know that they are blind as they move around their house with confidence. Maybe you should give these guys the benefit of the doubt or maybe you should discuss it with them face-to-face before taking it further.

I have to say that I was on crutches earlier this year and had to use them outside - but at work and home I put them down and moved. I still have a problem from my accident but I manage to move around like a spring chicken in familiar environments, carry things I shouldn't and have developed techniques to cope with spiral staircases at speed to get to emergencies at work. I have to work for my own peace of mind, and no I am not suing anyone. I simply want to get better as fast as possible.

Maybe they are just more comfortable at home - or maybe they are benefit cheats.

What-ever my feelings on benefit cheats,i detest informers more than almost anything. There are too many sneaky little bast*ards telling tales to the authorities. What will you gain by squealing,a tax cut? Some of the worst crooks in the country are politicians & wealthy business-men.You whine about poor people just trying to get by,when the Royal Family get millions for nothing.I suggest you mind your own business, they are not interfering with you, instead of gawking out the window at your neighbours, get a life.

Disgusting isn't it ? It must really grieve you to have to watch these people knowing that hard earned tax payers' money is going to scroungers like these. You could perhaps take a video to the benefits office because if the officials were to come to your house ,the neighbours would no doubt stay indoors that day.The other thing which really sickens me is that this is only ONE family, there are thousands and thousands more out there just the same . They have to be stopped and each one that we "shop" is one less. Good luck.

Penelope, on behalf of all taxpayers, you have a duty to report them. They are stealing from everyone else who works and pays taxes. The DWP website will have a number for you to call and they will take it from there.

Also, do not be put off by feelings of guilt or that you may be snitching. They are taking advantage of the system, and history shows that where people are prepared to do this and get away with it, they are likley to have been doing so for sometime and perhaps are also cheating or deceiving in others that you are not aware of.

Yes you should report it,lets face it if it were you bet someone would report you too! There are people out there who truly are incapacitated and either have been refused or who simply dont claim for incapacity. Hope you decide to do the right thing as its us taxpayers yet again who are being duped dont you think?

wow, how bout you go and do the right thing and ask them out right,f there are medical conditions where ppl have good and bad days, there could be anything wrong with these ppl. think bout what ya doin before u do something silly, you could ruin a families life by bein hasty, if u can post this on ere then u should be able to just ask them what they are doin? if ya not satisfied then maybe do it! think before u act.

Tell the Benefits Office what you've told us here and see what they advise- they'd be able to work out the best course of action. And don't listen to all the people telling you to mind your own business as these cheats are basically stealing from you, me, and countless other people.

Hope it gets sorted soon, I'll leave it to you!

I think I d first talk about that- in an indirect way- to the other neighbours who probably also recognized that the others are just acting, then you ll see what they are thinking about it.
But still, whatever their point might be- you should tell those cheaters your opinion about what they do and I think that if you do so in a convincing way, they might stop acting fearing the consequences.
Anyway, I wouldn t directly contact the authorities, you should be able to sort that out with them.
