I'm in my late 20s and not pregnant. I keep getting a sharp stabbing pain in my breast and nipple. I've never breastfed or had an injury there. Does anyone know what it could be?

I don't know that what problem is there in ur breast as i havn't examined it.
It can be anything.
May b some Abscess or so.

Yes u shud go for a check up without fail.
If u've never breastfed or had an injury there then its not dangerous thing.
Its just due to some bacterial cause and will be alright with Tablets.

In future if u have any problem don't ask to worry.
Worry is always bad.
Always ask for treatment or prevention.

Anyway, u don't have to worry coz m sure its not a cancerous thing.. As per ur suggestions!

Good Luck!

I used to experience pain in both my breasts. I read that caffeine makes it worse and it would be helpful to cut it out, so I did. Sure enough, the pain is gone now, and I do notice that it comes back if I have caffeine.

However, I'm not sure that this is the same situation as yours. I would certainly not have described the pain I experienced as "terrible" or "sharp stabbing". It was more like just a twinge.

I wouldnt be too concerned, but you have to look at the whole picture. Is it around "that time of month"? Hormone fluctuations can cause breast tenderness. Do you do monthly breast examinations? DO THEM! Every month 5 days after your period starts you should do a self exam in the shower. Look for changes in texture or lumps. If you find a lump you should go see your doctor. Painful lumps are almost always cysts. I suggest seeing your doctor for a breast examination. Good luck!

I get the same thing too, have for years, for me, it's a mix of hormones and caffine...caffine increases it. I also have and i forget the medical term, but it is lumpy breasts...something like 80% of women have it..and the condition can often cause those shooting pains too...for the most part, it's not a big deal, and nothing to worry about, but if your feeling any odd lumps, in your arm pit or breast then i would get yourself to a doctor asap...you can also call your relatives up and see if any of them experiance the same thing, because it could just be a hereditary condition.

Pain is a sign that something is wrong, it may be something simple but neither i nor you no so go to the doctor straight away, come on no pussyfooting its good to catch things early and you need to know wot the problem is to start sorting it out, it may be an ill fitting bra or something else unimportant but you have to find out just in case its more than that, make an appointment for today if possible.

PLEASE, go and see your doctor, it may well not be anything serious but the only way to really find out is to see your doctor.
your doctor will be able to reassure you if there is nothing to worry about, or start treatment if needed.
please do not feel as though you are wasting his /her time, they will be glad that you have gone to them.
remember, prevention is always better than cure.
good luck

No, but you really should get it checked. Go to the ER if you have to. It could be your heart, it could be your breast. You don't want to mess around just in case it's cancer or something else serious. I hope you get a clean bill of health, but please, go in and get checked, like today. Good Luck.
