I have loved watching the Hingis comback this year, and I think it is quite possible that she will reach the top five, but I don't think she'll ever be number one again. Martina is a disciplined player and rarely has a bad loss, but I fear that she is a little short of firepower compared to some of the best players in the world. I would compare her present situation to when Monica Seles came back after the stabbing. Monica was still very good and lasted for years in the top ten, but she rarely beat the game's elite and was never able to return to her top form.
Having said all this, I hope I'm wrong!

Martina's return to the top of women's tennis has been great to watch and she looks better than ever. The biggest problem she will face is the same she was running into before her injuries....she is just not powerful enough to beat the top players time and again. She makes up for it with great shot placement and an amazing mental game. However, when her serve is constantly in the lower 80 mph range there isn't a lot you can do. She'll win some tourney's and probably reach the semis of some majors......but back to #1, sad to say no.

Granted it's a tall task. But not impossible. We're talking about Martina Hingis. She's been there not quite long ago, and she's not that old (she's 26). With some consistency and the kind of hard work she puts in, she can still get there.

I think Martina Hingis can definitely go a little higher than her current ranking of No.8 in the world but you have to give her credit for getting back in there as quick as she did,I mean she was not even a ranked player on her return to professional tennis so congrats to her for that but to crack the Top 5 would be a tough ask for any of the players outside of it let alone Martina.

Unfortunatly the womens tennis game is geared towards players with power! However if u look at some1 like Justin Henin Hardenne shes not powerful and shes still up there!
Id love 2 see martina make it but i doubt it there are also too many good young players coming on the scene! Having said all this i still believe she has another grand slam in her

What she started in Sydney is a great jump. Continue playing the way she did and she can regain her standing in women's tennis again. The only thing she has against her is the same thing all women over 21 in this sport have, her age.

No. She has the brain when she plays, but she can't match the power and the endurance that most top 10 players have now. And it's not so much her size, but her technique that doesn't give her the big power shots.

She's got to work hard more than any of the other players.
It's really hard for her to become #1

Absolutely not. She does not seem to have the heart nor the talent. Her time has passed in women's tennis.
