One of the most important functions of language is the giving of names and the assigning of value to persons, events, experiences, objects, and places. Giving the thing a name places it into a world view so that the community and its members can respond to it (and manipulate it) appropriately. The name bestows to the community the value of persons, events, experiences, objects, and places. Is it good and to be valued and honored? Is it bad and to be rejected?
