I have worked at a Steel factory as you put it for years before I retired. Let me assure you that the water is recirculated and monitered by the city where the Steel Mill is located. All the water that is possible to do, is RECIRCULATED to use again. All run off is tested and retested for comtaimatents before it is allowed to be released. Which is NOT as MUCH as you would think it is. The water goes through many, many, filters and treated with safe chemicals and Rock Salt, (as a softening agent) and other agents that ARE safe for the enviroment. The water is tested many times a day for purities. let me assure you that if the water is contaminated and the Steel Mill is caught releasing the water, the Steel Mill would be FINED a GRTEAT deal of money and be shut down until the matter was resolved. And they could NOT afford to have that done.
