Why is Polygamy (multiple spouses) against the Law?
But there is no law against Adultery (having sexual relations outside of marriage)?

you're right, both should be against the law!

Probably because if it was allowed it would cause problems. If you were married and polygamy was not against the law, your wife could be married to other men and not have to tell you. Then there would be nothing you could say or do about it. It being against the law probably saves relationships. Think about how different life would be without it! Although there are many laws that are plain stupid, most laws eventually lead to the protection of people!

Adultery is still on the books in most states...it is just not enforced. It is my belief that there is no longer an argument against polygamy/polyandry and those laws will have to be taken off the books also.

Hmmm....good point.

BUT the law is made for like, insurance purposes I believe. So you cant marry 6 women and have them all covered under your medical insurance, your life insurance, etc....

Paperwork would be too messy in a divorce from one, two, three, etc....

Also it's already tough enough with the children of people who sleep around and get preggers from different guys....or guys who have multiple children out there. It gets messy...complicated, etc....

As for adultery being legal....it is, but you can have some major percussion's once you are in court for a divorce if you have proof that you cheated.

It is a form of rationing to ensure rich guys don't end up with all the girls. Adultery is just borrowing.

It is against the Law because most religions are against it.

Adultry is legal because most of those same preachers do it.
