okay, well, I LOVE to sing, but I am not that great at it. Will someone please tell me if you have to just have that special voice to sing, or do people actually get better with singing lessons?

Singing lessons will improve your voice.
Importantly they will teach you about breathing and using your diaphram properly.
Pitch, holding notes and on and on.
Why don't you find a good teacher and have a few lessons to see how you feel about them.
A couple of lessons will give you an idea about whether you think they would be beneficial.
Whatever the outcome, don't stop singing.

I only wanted to be two things when I grown up one to be a opera singer the other a truck driver. Couldn't carry a note and back when I was young girls didn't drive back hauls. Get a voice coach or have one test you. You can only get better with singing lessons if there is something there, get an opinion first. good luck

voice lessons will always help!! If your serious about singing there is a lot to learn. My daughter is a music and theater major at a local college. She has been singing for years and has performed in local theater musicals, she has also sang the National Anthem for the Celtics and Bruins games! There is alot to learn, one can't just sing, you need to know about the music also. Hence music thery. Also a voice teacher will be able to tell you if your an alto, soprano ect. You will also train your voice to sing at differant levels. If your serious and want to persue a music career, I stongly suggest voice lessons!!

Singing lessons will definitely help. Breathing is an important aspect of singing, and singing lessons will help you with that. Also, maybe being able to read music would help.

Many people's problems are that they try to sing songs that are not right for their voices. A singing coach could help you learn your range and such.

you don't need lessons. You need to think right!! basically, picture a square grid of about 50 silhouetted man figures creamy white with almost shoulder length hair hair being white with specs of black with a blk/gry background formed around with a frame bring the frame into view with 5 guys acrossed the top and about 10 guys under each of them. Now once you've a mental image of this visualize and take into prespective each man figues throat in succession across the grid of 5. Now each row has about 10 guys and our worth about 1 second of singing and only one of the 10 guys throat will be highlighted like shopping I want the through from the 3rd guy at top if the pitch is higher then the next row you might want the2nd from top, basically if you already know the song try to show youself how it goes and what you will be doing using your throat you don't have to do that through the whole song just as a warmup to sing or if you think you're starting to wavier in you attempt. it might look something like a pattern of a heartbeat you know like on the ekg machine at the doctors, before you put the images in the back of your mind, remove the thoughts of the guys whose throats' you did not think of, and real quick think of what you got start singing put those thought out of your mind and the rest is almost automatic as you help it along

No one would say Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan or Tina Turner had good singing voices. Many popular stars do not have melodic voices but are still enjoyed because of their entertainment value, or the quality of their lyrics

No doubt about it - lessons will do a great deal depending on how much you practice afterwards. BUT - the voices you hear on the CDs and sometimes even in "live" performances are not really the performers' voices- they have often been "enhanced."

No one has the perfect voice! Everyone brings their own personality into singing. I think singing lessons would be good to train your voice and teach you to us it properly. good luck ; )

Of course people get better with lesson, but only if you have sense of rhythm, and a regular voice tone, not too bad.
