its your country code probably, where you live if you stay in india it shows +91

Yep, that is the country code - and I think, but could be wrong it means your phone is an Australian number.

When i send a message, it always has +44 in front, which is the UK code.

Check the text messages setting in your mobile phone (refer to the manual) if that doesn't help check with your carrier.
