Put your cursor over the dog, right click and then click hide.

Because dogs are stupid. I bloody hate dogs I do ... they bark and they bite and they crap all over the place and you have to clear it up. AND they won't leave you alone. AND they smell. AND they smell even worse when they get wet. I bloody hate dogs I do. Did I mention that? (OK rant over and apologies to all you dog lovers out there).
In answer to your question, it's because you have a really slow computer. Mine is faster than a little greased whippet, and besides I use the Wizard search icon instead of that stupid dog. (He is kinda cute though).

Apparently the Windows API doesnt return the control on the links in that window till the dog stops walking!!

However if you disable the animations, you wont see the dog anymore.

I really can't figure out why they put animated characters in the search area.... Maybee not to get bored when waiting for windows to search...

Yeah just put it down. Switch him off, and smooth searching will be a breeze.

If you don't like him change the icon to another one. it is loading..

the animation is loading,thats why.don't blame the dog,blame your crappy computer...
