This is his claim to greatest of all-time: He made all conference at UCLA in basketball, football, track and baseball.
Great athletes must be proficent (good) in more that one sport.

I feel that barring injuries Bo Jackson would have been one of the best.

First of all, I disagree that to be classified a great athlete you need to excel in more than one sport. Does that mean Barry Sanders was not a great athlete?

Jackie Robinson did well in multiple sports and WAS a great athlete, no doubt. So did/was Bruce Jenner. To lay claim as the greatest of all time is a tall order. Jackie was amazing, a historical figure - and that's a big enough legacy for anyone.

Probably Jim Thorpe. Reinstated Olympic gold medals in track and field. One of the greatest running backs in the early NFL. also played pro baseball for a few years.

GREATEST of all time? No. Great athlete in his day, but there have been better since. Everyone in this thread is mentioning American athletes. Remember other countries have great athletes too.
