Segregation of MLB is why I discount the records set before 1947.

wow great question smitty. i dont think too many people do realize that. i think you would still have the greats like ruth mantle cobb and gherig walter johnson and cy yound. but josh gibsons might have had 700 homers before Aaron. Satchel Paige might have 400 wins and 6,000 strikeous. its a shame. i look at the game now and how inclusive the mlb is to players around the world. and is this what they didnt want to happen when the first started baseball? if they did they failed horribly. its too bad a lot of great ***** league players had to suffer.

The whole record book would have to be changed. We probally would not be talking about Bonds chasing the Home rRun Record. Satchel Paige would have a pitching Award named after him. More than likely there would not have been any .400 hitters (***** League Pitching was very good.) And Babe Ruth would have probally been the second most famous baseball player in history.

i agree, but there is nothing you can do about it now. Just think how different the record books would also be if Ruth, Foxx and Mays were on roids. Baseball is the toughest sport to say who is best at what because the game has changed so much in 100 years. i can go on and on about that, but lets save that for another time

I realize.. I <3 baseball, and yes.. like to big timers.. Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Mickey Mantle and so on.. They might've been beat out by a black.. That's why I glad Jackie Robinson finally came into the big leagues! =D

I agree that most people don't realize it, and that's why i don't think the steriod scandal is a little overblown (even though i don't condone of using it) Babe Ruth never have to face 1/3 of the population. It is something that we will never know.
