Poor management - choosing wacky business and financial managers who really took advantage.

Allegations of child molestation - paying off the first extortionist and paying a lawyer to defend against the second one (money well spent since he was acquitted)

Lack of interest and motivation - he has become less and less interested in producing music, so there had been less money coming in.

Ridiculous expenditures.

His music empire is still alive and well - he owns the rights to LOT of music, and will not allow any of it to be used unless a hefty price is paid. Michael Jackson is MEAN when it comes to the music he owns.

Not long ago, a production compnay decided to revive and air the 70's television show, "The Hilarious House of Frightenstein". They are unable to use Sly and the Family Stone's "I Want to Take You Higher", which was used in the original Wolfman sequences, because Michael Jackson owns the rights and wanted an obscene amount of money for the use of the song in all of the episodes. HHoF was never a big money maker, and never will be, it has always been low or no budget, so the show is using a new fabricated song that is similar, but not similar enough to provoke a lawsuit.

Yes men, like Elvis had, and probably some form of anal retentive abuse as a child.

It wouldn't have to be sexual abuse per se,it could be emotional abuse.

Psychological abuse is far worse than physical torture. I kinda feel like cutting him a(very small) break, simply because,
No.1;i don't care. and No.2, there is something magical about MJ that nobody
can deny.
I see the people that have brought joy to this miserable world, and he's one of them.

Does that not account for something in our society anymore?

He lead to his own progressive downfall. It started when he chose to transform himself into another person. His strange mannerisms did not help him as well and started to detract from his true talents. His off the wall antics(baby dangling, etc..) did not help his career as well, not to mention the accusations of child molestation. That can really damage a career. Somewhere along the way he lost himself and thus his music career was ended.

The biggest reason is because the media makes up lies about him to ruin his reputation! The second reason is that so many gullible people believe those lies! The final reason is because gold diggers falsely accused him of molestation to make a quick buck!!

In my humble opinion, it is because he took so much time off from putting out albums. I've seen it with other artists as well. They take time away, but can never quite get back to what they were. It's almost like he got out of his groove and lost touch with what made him on top of his game.

Probably has a lot to do with the 2 charges he faced in regards to child indecency.
2, might be that he's totally wacked in the brain-come on he has a theme park in his back yard to entice kids to come over, he has a monkey named 'Bubbles' , he wanted to buy the bones of a dead guy... you need more...
lastly.....
He sings "Beat It"
And he wears one white glove......
hmmmm
