Apply to get in, as in to get a job as a police officer, NO. In most states the age to become a police officer is 21. And there are test that your must take and pass before being hired. UNLESS you apply at a non civil service department. BUT with departments such as these (NON civil service) you are subject to being fired at any point in time. Its all about politics. You can go to your local police department and see if you can volunteer there to help out or if there are any positions there like for 911 operator/dispatch. This will be a foot in the door so to speak. But while your waiting to turn 21 enroll in some college courses in law enforcement. This will be a PLUE in getting hired at some point. Good Luck.

There are various processes that you go through to apply. The first one is called the paper sift. This is the application stage where you fill out the form and submit it. You have to be the correct age at this stage otherwise they do not process your application further. This will delay your application as I believe you cant apply again for another year so to avoid this make sure you are the correct age. The second process is the interview stage. The then accept or decline certain applicants. They then do searches checking that you have no criminal record. After that there is a course that you go on.

It really depends upon the region you are applying in. Some areas have units like cadres where young people are given police training in anticipation that they will one day join a department.
Look around and ask questions. you might find your answer right there in your home area.

"is it ok that i might hesitate to shoot a human or a canine? and is it ok if i understand people who do and sell drugs?" No, No, and No. you hesitate and somebody harmless finally ends up lifeless. in case you have a reason to shoot, you do not hesitate in any respect, era. "additionally- if i became into to 'bust' somebody I knew for something, no be counted if or not it somewhat is rushing or drugs, might or not it somewhat is appropriate if I asked yet another officer to step in if I felt i could not arrest them (my aunt mentioned thats what they do in AZ...yet i could be a police officer in IL the place I stay)" rushing, you have not got a decision, through fact it somewhat is not honest to make that guy or woman take a seat there for an prolonged time through fact which you are able to not write their fee ticket on your guy or woman emotional reasons. If it became right into a bust you have been entering into for you need to ask for somebody else to take the case. and that i don't think of they are going to settle for all people into the academy who has a clinically determined psychological ailment, so which you're flat out of success besides.

Useless is right. If you are white, forget about it! My friend who was in the Army, has a strong character and is very intelligent was recently refused a place in the Police. The reason why?? Because she wasn't "visibly ethnic enough". You couldn't make it up!

Probably not as a regular officer. They may hire you, and put you on adminstrative duty until you become of proper age.
