they are all the best. it all depends on the dog that appeals to you the most. some people think ankle bitters are the best, some think st. bernards are the best.

I will agree without a doubt, Labrador Retrievers are the greatest. I have a one and half year old Yellow Labrador and he is my world. I have had several other breeds but none impressed me as much as the Lab. I can take him every where, he loves people and dogs, he goes swimming with all of us and is great in the snowy weather. I never have to leave him home because he is well adjusted and fits in any where. He always has a good time. And to mention they are highly intelligent and easy to train. They are the most loving and affecionate dog, their greatest want is to be with their master. That is a true best friend.

Is there really a best dog? I love all dogs they are all great. Though i have to agree with another and say i prefer German Shephards - but the one i have is actually a crossbreed (with possibly lab/rottie) hes got there body shape with alsation clothing. He has the most superb temperament and is very loyal and i wouldnt change him. The bigger the dog the more stupid they are it seems. My husband would disagree again and say Rotties were the best but hes biased after just getting a totally adorable 4 month old female.
Big dogs in general rule and are great for big cuddles and great days out in the countryside.

Totally the best, I have a 2yr old golden lab called amber cos shes got amber eyes and a light brown nose rather than dark brown and black, I will admit that she is over weight but she is sooooo lovely very placid and patient I also have a 6month old kitten and she's really good with the her, my little girl adores her and amber is really protective of my little girl. She sits on the sofa next to us sitting up right and watches TV with us its almost like having another child/person, she keeps me company in the day when I'm doing my house work and I talk to her all the time in fact shes asleep on my feet right now. Wouldn't change her for the world would definitely get another one..

Yep I have a black lab cross with collie. He is the best natured dog I have known, apart from the golden lab I had as a child.
He is getting a bit old and smelly now lol but is a big part of the family.

I agree, labs are the best.

I have Billy, who is an 8 year old black lab. He is a beautiful boy with a fantastic temperament and really loving. I also have Truffle, who is a 21 month old choccy lab. She is MAD!! She thinks she is still tiny and has to have cuddles every evening before bed. Definitely mummy's girl.

My babies!!!

Have to say our preference is a German Shepherd, but has to be female as they seem to be the most 'nurturing'. Ours is about 5 years old, is a rescue dog and our 5 year old daughter and her are inseperable. She is definately part of the family and goes mad when our parents come round, she seems to know that they are coming round and keeps going to the door to be let out about 1/2 hour before they arrive (this is when we haven't said out loud that anyone is visiting us).
