The weight loss system (protein ice cream drink, citrus boosts, and supplements) contains hoodia. The claim behind hoodia is that it curbs your appetite. When I started this weight loss system, I noticed the first day that my appetite was curbed. I didn't go to the snack machine like I used to. After 2-3 days, I noticed I wasn't eating as much lunch and dinner.
So, whether, it was the hoodia or the combination of other herbs, I don't know. I just know that it's working. I've lost 32 pounds in 69 days.
There is an article on the CBS News site that talks about hoodia.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

I was just reading about Hoodia in Men's Health this morning. The claim is that if you consume the herb, it'll blunt your appetite, saving you close to 1000 calories a day.
However, this month's Men's Health magazine reported that most of the "Hoodia" purchased in United States contains 0% Hoodia (according to the BBC). In addition, this product's claims have not been tested for safety, long term use, or that it actually works.
Your better off trying to find another way to lose weight. The few people I've chatted with on yahoo also have reported no beneficial effects after taking Hoodia (i.e. no weight loss).
Good luck.

As you have probably already read, Hoodia has been used for thousands of years in it's natural state. Only for the least few years has interest in this plant really taken off and companies using it's properties as a weight loss product.
Hoodia does come with the normal health warning such as those who are pregnant, nursing or planning to become pregnant should avoid Hoodia as it can cut your appetite drastically.
The problem with Hoodia is that many companies either stretch their products so far with other ingredients that the amount of hooida in them is minimal or they use a lesser quality of hoodia, not taken from the hoodia gordonii plant (there are many varieties of hoodia, not just gordonii).
Your best best when looking for a hoodia product look for one that:
1. Is truely from South Africa
2. Is hoodia gordonii, and not a different variety of hoodia
3.a C.I.T.E.S certificate. This is the permit from the south African government that allows Hoodia to be exported from their country. Hoodia is actually protected by the government. Without an up to date certificate, there is no proof that your prouduct truely hoodia.
4. Certificate of analysis. This is done by an independant lab and
and shows you what is in your product in addition to hoodia. This is just one way to find out of your product has been cut with other ingredients such as green tea.
5.Certificate of Authenticity. Proof again that you are using pure hoodia gordonii.
6. One that comes with a money back guarantee. If you decide that hoodia is not for you, you should be able to get your money back, no if's, and's or but's. So look for a no jump through hoops return policy.
For me, hoodia has worked well. I do hear stories from others that hoodia doesn't seem to work for them. When digging through the information, I find that they are not using pure hoodia, but one that has been cut with green tea, caffeine or a carb blocker. I am not saying that these additional ingredients are not good for appetite supressant, but why pay for them when your actually wanting hoodia. Before finding one I truely like I went through many other types and brands.
I am very happy with my choice and love recommending it to others.
