I'm talking about someone who's throwing up and blacking out and all that. Serious alcohol poisoning, not a drunk person. What medical steps should someone take to avoid any harm? No self-righteous people saying "YOU SHOULDN'T DRINK IN THE FIRST PLACE!" please.

Calling an ambulance would be a good idea, but I guess that is not an option for you.
First of all, make sure the person can through up properly WITHOUT getting choked. You need to be close to them and hold their head and neck in the right position.
Once they have thrown up you could give them pickle juice. If you don't have any try water, but in small sips and only AFTER the person has thrown up, otherwise the incoming water gets the alchohol moving around the stomach and this slows down the sobering. Alchohol soaks up the water in your system, causing dehydration so it is important that you give the person something to drink - remember, only do that AFTER they have thrown up.
Don't try to wake them up, it is way too hard and anyway sleep will get them to sober up faster.
Of course alchohol poisoning is very dangerous and you should get medical help if you believe that to be the case. Otherwise it can lead to serious internal injuries or even death.

If they are not quite at the point where they need medical attention, and they can just go to bed, make sure you lie them on their side and stay that way. That way if they should vomit while they are sleeping, it will come out and not block their airway. Choking (vomit blocking airway) has caused many drunken related deaths.

make sure that they don't pass out on their stomache or back!!!! They might choke on their own vomit! Best thing to do is get them on a couch, proped up on their side....and have a trash can near by! DO NOT give them any kind of asprin or tylenol!!!! and if they can hold it down try and give them sum plain bread to soak up the alcohol. GOOD LUCK! and if you think it is life threatening do not hesitate to take them to the emergency room.

THAT GUY THAT SAID TO PUT THEM ON THEIR BACK IS AN IDIOT!!!!!! do not do that!!! they will choke and DIE!

If he is blacking out, get to a hospital. If he is just throwing up, get a bucket near him or let him lay on the floor of the bathroom so he can throw up in the toilet. When he comes around let him clean up his own mess. To not give coffee or anything else that people say will get you sober. All that happens there is you have a wide awake drunk on your hands.

First, if they pass out you need to take their heart rate. If they are laying on the floor, turn them on their back and cover them with a blanket. If its really alcohol poisoning, you need to call a medic.

sometimes ppl get sick when they mix drinks or drink too much and it would not be alcohol poisonoing. in that case let them get sick and get it all out of their system . make sure they drink pleanty of water. if they are blacking out it is more serious. take them to the er and get them seen to.

Make sure they're lying on their side so they won't choke if they are throwing up... I would seek medical attention for them.
