Good Afternoon,

I work in financial services and I too often find it hard to motivate myself when dealing with reports or things of the sort.

I would advise you to do the following, firstly a clear desk space helps me concentrate. I know it sounds strange but I find that a cluttered desk = cluttered mind and this doesn't help me. So I make sure my desk is clear.

Then put on some music in the background, I also need something in the background I also know this is weird but it always works for me.

Then get started, allocate a break every 20 minutes, then tell yourself that you can mess aroung with your cat or make a cup of tea in your allocated 5 minute brake.

By breaking it down into time intervals I find things get done but I also have a chance to do outher things . . . hmmmm unfortuneately for me, housework.

Hope this helps

Have a great day.

Kim

Same here, i have a ton of boring business reports to write and can start! I know the actual answer is to log off Yahoo Answers and get on with it but I can't. Good luck.

Don't ask me - I keep getting distracted by yahoo answers. I think I'll have to go somewhere there is no computer.

Take it down to the public library and do it there. Fewer distractions. If you make yourself so bored it will be the only thing you can do to stop being bored.

Set a timer and work on it in 20 minute increments. I've always heard that 20 minutes was the average amount of time for human attention spans and after that our focus wavers. 20 minutes then do something fun for 30 minutes. You can do it. I believe in you!
