Thanksgiving weekend. Our display for our house is very elaborate and takes a couple of days to stage. Planning for the display occurs all year long, and almost as soon as I take down the decorations I am planning the next year. I thoroughly enjoy the activity, and always receive many compliments. It has spawned a Tim Taylor/Doc Johnson (Home Improvement) impromptu competition with my neighbors though. Our crowning joy was 2 years ago when we made the local paper as Best Decorated House in town.

The first week of December - if you wait until it gets too close - you will do all that work just to take it down again. - And you will be stressed about all the other crap that you still have to do before christmas - like shopping, etc. that decorating won't be fun anymore but a royal pain in the ARS

I love Christmas and usually put mine up in mid November. I have heard that the 'correct' timing is 12 days before Christmas and they are removed 12 days after Christmas.
Have a Merry Christmas!

I put up our decorations and tree during the weekend before Christmas. I take them down and box the lots away again on 2 January. I quickly tire of tripping over ho-ho-ho stuff.

I usually put mine up the first week of December and take them down on New Years day...however...I noticed the Christmas stuff is already coming out at the local stores and it's making me want to boycott the whole darn season this year!

I usually get started the day after Thanksgiving. And they come down anywhere from January 2nd to ? In Canada they start going up right after Halloween ( that's because they celebrate their Thanksgiving on October 8th, Lucky ones they are), I'd sure like to do that, but my husband and youngest son both have birthdays before the middle of November and they wouldn't appreciate me very much.

Anytime after Thanksgiving. Typically I'll start during the second week of December. I pull things down right after the new year.
I'm not a fan of setting up before T-day, because I like to enjoy each holiday
