awaiting tax disc for car heard there was a printable"disc in post" version i could use any ideas???

People used to put 'Tax in Post' in the windscreens but I'm sure that it is now an offence to take a vehicle on the Public Highway without a disc on display. Believe it or not there are rules on where you can display it too. I've been pulled because my disc is in the wrong place. I'm not moving it though.

my question is why are you waiting on a tax disc?
If you bought the car new then it should already be taxed, if bought from a dealer then you should have got them to tax it.
If bought privately take all the docs to a post office and get the disc.
To be on the road a vehicle must have a vaild disc.

If you have the car insured you can go to the Gaurds and they will sign a form that you put up on the windscreen and this will cover you till the disc comes in post. I am not a 100% sure of this, but ring your local gaurd station and they should be able to advise you.

If its a car from a dealer, they should have already taxed it for you and put the disc in before you took it off the forecourt

A label from a Newcastle brown ale bottle looks a bit like a car tax disk from a distance, It worked for me for about a month once.

no i don,t think so in the old days you could say in the post but i don,t about now though if a check is done on your reg no it should be in the computer system.but as far as i know road tax disc should be always on display

No - the offence is FAILING TO DISPLAY the tax disc, not not having one. So if it falls on the floor and can't be seen you can get done for that, technically.

I would put a note on the windscreen saying that thee tax has been applied for. Assuming it has, then any officer can immediately check this on the DVLA computer. If you have paid for your tax you do not need to be grounded!

Chances are you wont get pulled over anyways, or go to the post office and ask for a temporary one (no idea if they exist just trying to sound helpful)
