i have noticed when browsing through my files that some of them are written in blue, what does this mean?

I'm assuming you mean the filename (text) is blue of a file or folder. If that's the case, then blue filenames in Windows Explorer indicate that they are compressed (not zipped) but if you right-click the file/folder you should be able to look at Properties and see that they are being compressed to save space.
