For tempory relief in the middle of the night, I would try Anbisol or Orajel for gums and tooth ache pain. Also toothache drops (clove oil). All of these found in the tooth related isle of your pharmacy. You could hold a little liquor on it till it numbs the gum. But of course you probably know the dentist is the only cure...They may be infected and need to come out. That is a very common problem with wisdom teeth. Best not to wait, as gum and tooth infections can spread to your glands, ears and sinus areas...pain like you wouldn't believe. So, before it gets any worse, go to a dentist or hospital cliniic. Most clinics will make a payment plan with you if no insurance. Go tomorrow. Think about how good it will feel to be pain-free, and one uncomfortable day at the dental surgeon is well worth not ever having pain in those teeth again. Best wishes....please don't put it off...even if it feels better tomorrow cause it will come back.!

It is ironical that we display utmost ignorance while dealing with Wisdom Tooth.Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually appear between the ages of 17 and 24 an age where people are supposedly wiser than as a child.. However, the incessant pain it generates, especially when it is impacted sends all wisdom overboard and we run for painkillers. But remember the temporary relief they brought may be return back more ferociously unless it is dealt wih adequately.
They are commonly removed when they affect other teeth.
Wisdom teeth are an example of a vestigial structure,It is possible that these teeth were useful when it was common for humans to lose several teeth to decay by the age when they appear ..The recent changes to softer diets which cause less wear on the teeth may be causing the third molars to be less useful, and, in fact, problematic. The impaction may take many forms.. Mesioangular impaction is the most common form, and means the tooth is angled forward, towards the front of the mouth. or does not erupt fully through the gumline.or angled fully ninety degrees forward, growing into the roots of the second molar or angled backward, towards the rear of the mouth. Such tooths are most difficult o extract..
Wisdom teeth are extracted for two general reasons: either the wisdom teeth have already become impacted, or the wisdom teeth could potentially become problematic if not extracted. Potential problems caused by the presence of properly grown-in wisdom teeth include infections caused by food particles easily trapped in the jaw area behind the wisdom teeth where regular brushing and flossing is difficult and not effective. Such infections may be frequent, and cause considerable pain and medical danger. The extraction of wisdom teeth can be a difficult surgical procedure, and should only be performed by dental professionals with proper training and experience performing such extractions.
I would therefore urge you not to seek temporary reliefs but go in for a permanent soution.

You need to go to a dentist. Painful wisdom teeth are often a sign of impaction (pushing against the neighboring tooth). It is very common for wisdom teeth to be removed for this reason.

Not sure where you are living so I am not sure what brand you would use. However, when I had problems with wisdom teeth, I found that teething gel that is used on babies helped. Also, any gels that are used on mouth ulcers (it numbs the gums).
I hope that you start to feel better.

I sure feel for you girl....One of the worst pains a person can possibly have, an " impacted" wisdom toothOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!! Try "Ora gel, they sell it at most drug stores, K-Mart, Walgrens, Walmarts, no scrip, works like a charm. Better than "teething stuff" you'll get relief. GOOD LUCK.......LATER

As hot as you can stand salt water. Swish it around. It reduces the infection and relieves the pain (it is also good for infected hang nails, splinters, ect. As long as it isn't really badly infected, then you need a doctor). Also a heat pad over the area...
