No. People deserve respect, ideas and beliefs do not.

That depends on what you're calling false. I don't think society should respect cannibalism as a means to gain the wisdom of that person since...well... it's wrong and grotesque. But if you're viewing it wrong from you're own religiouse stand point then your beliefs are wrong to other people. Would you want other religions to not respect your beliefs just because they viewed them as false? Or athiests to not respect any beliefs because of the view that all religions are false?

Yes, no one has the right to tell anyone what is true or false in their lives, in their opinion, just respect it, does it hurt anyone to show common courtesy...I don't think so. If you're talking about religion, the sooner people chill out and realise that basically decent people all want the same thing...the happier this world will be.

Yeah, it may be false, but you can respect a person's honesty, and understand why they might think something without having to agree with the actual belief itself. Respect doesn't mean you can't argue or try to change their mind.

do you mean in act or in thought. In practice one should respect a persons right to think something is true whether it is or not like if a person believes that women are equal to men one should respect that but not expect them to always be lifting heavy objects

What did Christ say? Did he say to respect every belief, or turn away from them? Didn't he say that there would be many who claim to speak in his name?

Respect the right of the believer. Just like a little child who doesn't know any better -- "I love you, Johny, but I do not like it when you lie to me." ;-)

Yes. Most definitely. So long as nobody's getting hurt as a result of it, that is...but otherwise, always.
