I would think you might be kind of young to have Tinnitus, Tinnitus is a constant ringing in the ears. It comes from being exposed to loud noises........Extra loud music........Gun and artillery fire. I don't mean just once, you have to be exposed to it for long periods of time. I don't know if it's hereditary, I wouldn't think so........if it keeps up, get to the Doctor(Audiologist), I don't want to scare you, it's not life threatening. I have had it since Viet-Nam.....lots of noise there. GOOD LUCK>>>>>LATER

Because that's the only time you notice it! You may have tinnitus, which is ringing or whistling in the ears. Or maybe you have sinus problems or catarrh which can cause the same.
(If you start hearing music when there's nothing around, it may be your hatband!! :) )
