The ummah has been asked to work on non-muslims and bring them to the light from the darkness. Can you imagine life without any work or tension. The different religions are also given by Allah to work on them. One can only know the taste of light only after the experience of darkness. I was a Hindu, reverted to Islam just after going through Quran and Haddith. And after gaining some practical knowlede while living with a Muslim family in India and that too in a Hindu dominated area. Now I can realise the meaning of LIGHT

If Muslims continue to believe that Islam is the one and only truest religion in the world, there will be no peaceful co-existence.

I ask you, how much do you know about Buddhism and Zen? None? A little? A lot? Just the tip? Already a master?

If you can't even understand others, how can you possibly believe others will understand you, huh? And wasting time talking about co-existence.

I think different religions with different belief, culture and tradition may co-exist in this large world "peacefully" if none claims superiority over others - being the creation of God.

According to my knowledge it is not the will of God to eliminate all such differences. These differences are necessary for the increase of Knowledge and Wisdom in humanity.

Consequently the human wisdom is attracted to these differences and finds "The Best out of the Rest"!

while the God has given his guidance and wisdom...
It is the mankind who must seek 'The Best' to live in harmony and peace under the guidance - " Will of God " If we do this we can Co-exist with each other.

Till the point we believe we are from different religions - the idea of co-existence will not work.

We will have to come to understand at the deepest level - that human race is One. Humanity is the true religion. Humanity is to understand human being as the entity in existence - which can only live right by understanding the existence and himself.

Muslims -> just follow the Quran - To you be your religion, to me be my religion (Surah Al Kafirun).

I wish it really was as simple as that but we just know how to complicate matters. I guess if we all make a real effort to stop being judgemental, stop jumping into conclusions, stop spreading lies about other ppl's religions, stop making generalizations, and just stop being self-centred & insensitive we could all get along.

Educating others about your religion wouldn't hurt either, as long as they're willing to listen of course.

Well, I think the majority of people are reasonable and respectful of others' beliefs; just because you don't believe what I believe, I'm not going to label you a horrible person immediately. (I tend to wait until I get to know people for that one. :D)

Note, however, that I say "majority", not all. And it tends to be the people outside of that minority who get the press time.

that is not often seen...there is more competition than co-existence. i know very few individuals who are capable of it.
