Don't require programing knowledge to work in testing.but in testing field ,we are using automation tools.so if you have C programing knowledge,it is easy for you to write script in automation tools.

Yes, you need minimum kanowledge about the Programming because you have to deal with the type of data with which you are working. Eg. Numeric, Alpha numeric, Images, Voice based etc...
