The AAR sight is no help. I just need to know the current method of how to deliver and receive rail equipment from and to other railroads.

This is usually accomplished by a simple drag of the equipment to an interchange track, in most instances referred to as the "transfer", in some cases. In other instances a yard engine (or road crew at some points) delivers the cars to the other railroad's yard.

The main difference between these and other types of moves is the required air brake test for transfer train movements is different than for road train movements.

in the monvalley area of southwest Pennsylvania coal
trains are often transfered from CSX to NS and back again.
this is so they can load at a coal mine for the power co.
railroads have interconnection points like AMTAK it runs
accross many other RR tracks, with radios and
computers they know where all trains are always.
