Do you think our modern day view of Yahweh is different than how people used to view him 500 years ago?

Thank you.

I'm not sure of the reference to 500 years ago.

If you look at the "old" churches in Europe, most recognized the name YHWH and have these letters in or on their church.

Today, many professed christians echo Pharoah's words at Ex. 5:2

But Phar´aoh said: “Who is Jehovah(Yahweh), so that I should obey his voice to send Israel away? I do not know Jehovah (Yahweh) at all

yes, without a doubt.

See God/Yahweh always knows the best way to reach us and teach us. In the very old days God used fear and power. Today God uses love and compassion.

Now this didn't change over night. Once man was ready to start accepting love he showed it. Over time he has shown more and more to us. Just like there was a time when God had to show him/herself on a pretty regular basis. Today God doesn't need to. We all know God is there w/o him/herself having to show us all the time.

So yes as man grows, so does man's relationship with God.

Not just 500 years but a day or 5000 years we have changed. The slightest difference is change.

I thin the modern view of God is very different. For a start we don't call him Yahweh much any more.

well...i actually think we have kind of...the birds eye veiw on Jesus and the history of the Bible... i mean...we are not from that age enduring all that suffering etc... we are able to read all about events that happened thousands of years ago... we have these scriptures..and these are where we get our veiw of Jesus from... now i cant see how we would look at Jesus any differently than what the Bible describes Him as... there is no modern Jesus...you know why? In the Bible it states that God never changes ( he is Sovereign too right? ) ... well Jesus is the Son of God..He is OF God... He is God in the Flesh... He does not change... He is always the same.. if He were to change on us...how wud we know it is Him after all these years?

Yes, and even in less time than that. The view of God has changed in my lifetime. People used to think of God as a vengeful God and preached hellfire and brimstone to induce fear of God in them. Now, God is viewed as a loving God, and his love is preached almost exclusively.

Yes. That's becuase revelation (or God's self-disclosure to humankind) has been progressive, culminating in His revelation in Jesus Christ.
