In the absence of a uniform yardstick to measure goodness - this statement will hold true.

Here is one proposal for measuring Goodness in human-being:

Good is to live in harmony in a Family.

Better is Good + primarily working for establishing Good in all - with self's recognition.

Best is working for Good without wanting anything in return - not even self's recognition.

Better & Inferior!

I would say that it was ok to be self-motivated, and have high esteem, but to brag a person is better than another person may have some truth behind your statement.

Prove to be inferior! If a person does nothing but dominates his or her environment putting on a show that they are better than everyone else, then of course the first failure or mistake they make can be looked at as the person being inferior!

Interesting question!

The teachings are not something out there in a book; what the teachings say is, 'Look at yourself, go into yourself, inquire into what is there, understand it, go beyond it', and so on. The teachings are only a means of pointing, explaining, but you have to understand, not the teachings, but yourself

If death is ugly, that means your whole life has been a wastage. Death should be a peaceful acceptance; a loving entry into the unknown, a joyful goodbye to old friends, to the old world. There should not be any tragedy in it.

You are always given a single moment. You are not given two moments together. If you know how to live one moment you know the whole secret of life.

This is a contradictory statement. You are talking about someone who believes HIMSELF to be good ( or better or whatever) ., To whom should he prove this? Only to himself.. Your statement implies that OTHERS see him as inferior. What does it matter?

I feel that for our ownselves , we all should feel and believe ourselves to be good and not worthless. Others` opinion helps us evolve to be better , in due course

Your above thought , for example, you have asked to widen your horizon. If I have to say that it is stupid etc. , that only implies that I have not understood you and your thoughts. It does not mean that you have inferior thinking

Whatever,
The only way to prove you truly are inferior is by contantly performing at a substandard level to everyone else. It has nothing to do with how you "believe yourself to be."
Conversly, if you believe you are better, but always do a superior job compared to everyone else, then you truly are superior.

I think that Jesus said that the last shall be first and the first last.

This seems to be the centre of Christianity, where a Crucifixion precedes a Resurrection.

Some people would say that this view rejects the World as an evil you must abandon.

Other people say that Christianity is a religion for Slaves.

The choice is ours.

it's too broad. also a little cold don't you think?
and can beliefes about one's self be proof of anything, it's a thought. and so you can suspect that someone believes themselves to be better, but you can't be sure. so how does the way you think another thinks any indication of anything outside yourself?

You got that right. I know people like that and in truth they are less than the people who they think they are better than. They are a waste of anyones time.

The end justifies the means.

Be careful what you want, because you might get it. And when you do, no amount of justification will help you.
