So are you all telling me that this is not a "true story"? and it is more like a parable??? and if so then I why don't they teach it like that in religion classes, and in church?

Someone said something like "because Adam and Eve where the first humans God made, not the only ones"... To that I must say:

Adam and Eve screwed up, if you remember. God was like "ugh, you noobs" and booted them from the Garden of Eden server. Why would God make more humans after that then? So the rest of them could disappoint Him? And don't say it's because He's forgiving, because we're all supposedly born with *original sin*, hints that He's not THAT forgiving. (Unless you're Mormon or somewhere out there, then you believe that humans don't pay for Adam's sin!)

Anyway, I would have been taken more seriously if I hadn't used words like "noob" and "server" in the last paragraph, however, there really is no point. You are right; the story of Adam and Eve doesn't make sense. It was THOUGHT UP by a person (or group of people) who tried to explain our origin. They had little understanding of science at the time, not to mention that not only was this story written in another language, but it could have been edited anywhere along history by a rich king who didn't agree.

You must admit that if you're taking this story as a parable, you're somewhat sending the message to people that the more we discover (the more science we learn and understand, and the more educated we are), the more likely we are to take stories from the bible as parables, rather than fact. And if that's true, the quote "Our ignorance is called God; what we know is called science" sure seems more factual than fictious.

So if you do take the story literally, I don't know... Maybe the DNA pool in the beginning was so diverse that Adam and Eve could have children who mated among themselves without any sory of genetic mutation(s) occuring. Or maybe we ARE the product of a genetic mutation, and Adam and Eve were very different from us. Interesting though, eh?

I hope this helps, if you want to talk more, IM me sometime.

I hope you are serious about being open to changing your mind. I used to think as you do.

The idea of "in-breeding" sounds gross in today's world. Laws on the books today about it are concerned with the genetic damage that can occur to the offspring. This was a concern after many generations of human beings. God told people to not inbreed in Leviticus chapter 18. This was after the world population was in the millions. Back in Eden, relations were with relatives initially. People lived for hundreds of years, and God told them to be fruitful and multiply. Adam and Eve had many children, not just Seth, Cain, and Abel. They in turn had many children, and so on. The Jewish historian Josephus wrote, "The number of Adam's children, as says the old tradition, was 33 sons, and 23 daughters." Adam lived to the age of 930. The genetic breakdown wasn't a concern then because Adam was made perfect in the image of God. Have you ever noticed when you get a "papered" dog, a pure breed, it has a much greater chance of genetic defects. The same is true with the human race as generations come and go. The bottom line answer to your question is that Cain married either a sister or some other close relative. Otherwise there wouldn't have been future generations like you said. I hope this helps.

According to the latest scientific reports, DNA has proved that all humans come from the same two parents. The Bible itself is not like a newspaper where you learn the basic facts of a story; the who, what , when , where, and how. The Bible tells the truth in many different ways and some times without any facts at all. Did a rabbit really lose a race to a turtle? No. But it teaches a very good ;lesson about perseverance. That is what some of the songs, or poems, or parables in the Bible do. They teach us the truth about God in many different ways. And last but not least there is a lot of factual material in Scripture. I know it sounds complicated, but theologians and bible scholars have done extensive research to find the truth in Scripture. You have to know who wrote a certain book, who it was written too, the culture of the people, the time frame in which it was written and contemporary writings and even archeology all come together to bring us to the truth. I hope this helps. I will pray that the Holy Spirit guides you to the truth.

All the views expressed at the ancient times r forceably applied on people n a bunch of intelligents used their imagination to get the power over people. As the famous quote says "History is 95% false n 4% misrepresentation n 1% truth", U just see the literature just as people's imaginary answer to the endless questions.
Untill Coparnicus clarified 'The Solar centric theory', people believed in 'geo centric theory'. Believe in ur reasoning capabilities rather going by blind believes.

Otherwise try this. Put urself in the shoes of the ancient intelligent n ask urself how u would get the upper hand out of the mob. Ull certainly realise.
Cheers dear

Any rational person can read the first few pages of the bible and conclude that it is nonsense. Adam & Eve is a fairy tale. Now whats funny is to watch all of the people who will give you their reasons for the inconsistencies in the story as if their reasons were a fact. They can't even agree amongst themselves.

Notice that Tank D tried to "sugar-coat" the word incest. God thought it was a sin to eat apples and gain "knowledge" but it was ok for parents to screw their kids.

Adam and Eve are the representation of the beginning of modern humans in a form that can be understood by most people. Two people together have children. However, the human race could not have sprung from two people alone. We would have died out long ago if this were the case due to inbreeding.

Remember where it says that there was not a man to till the ground, in Genesis chapter 2?
Remember God had created Male and Female in chapter 1 and gave them dominion over the fish and fowls and everything that moveth upon the earth?
Well, that's when God FORMED not created, "Adam", to till the ground. There was already other peoples on the earth.

Yea I know, whoosh, way over the heads.

I am not christian, I am Muslim but I would like to share what we know about them After Adam and Eva come down to this world, they had always twin babies and twins were one girl and one boy.when they grow up, one boy would marry to a girl who was not twin of him, (that was not born in the same time) At that time this was allowed to produce a society, but then it was forbidden to marry a sister who was born in different time. this is what I know All the best :)
