Ah, I had the same problem, you'll have to either ask her girlfreinds to 'swap rings' for a laugh ???, or tell her YOU are going to buy one for your mum dad, freind ......, ask her as a laugh to what size she is, tell her about how small her fingers are compared to whoever ..., it worked or me , GOOD LUCK MATE

This question gets asked almost every day and these are some of the answers that have been given:
Measure against another ring that she wears OR
Tie a piece of string around her finger when she's asleep OR
Ask her friends/ mother/sister to let her try on one of their rings without being obvious ie "how does this ring look on your engagement finger - what kind of ring would you choose if you were getting engaged etc" OR
But an average size and she can get it altered afterwards.
My fiance bought me a surprise ring and it was far too big but was very easily made smaller the next day.
Good Luck, she will love it even if it is the wrong size! It's the surprise that counts.

How sweet and good luck.
I would suggest getting a catalogue that has a ring sizer in it and try to get hold of her ring and measure it to that or go to the jewellers and explain the situation, chances is are that they would be able to give you the average size for engagement fingers and offer advice on what to do. I think you'll find that most jewellers will size the ring up and down for you to get the right size. If you live in UK take a break to the Goldsmiths in Cornwall, they are excellent and even can change the size of the ring there on the day plus all those rings and stuff shes guaranteed to try some on and voila you'll get her size.

If she wears a dress ring on the third finger of her left hand, slip it on to your little finger and make a mental note of where it slides down to. We can then take the size from that. Generally if a ring needs to be altered again there is no problem and no appearance of where it has been altered.
Otherwise you could buy a "fake" dress ring from the high street so you have something to give her and then you could pick the proper ring together... GOOD LUCK!

Don't! An engagement ring is a really important piece of jewellery that she is going to have to look at every day. Let her pick it! If you pick one she does not really like, she may keep it because she does not want to offend you. Consult her or else borrow one somewhere and tell her you just have it as a token to do the down on one knee thing and that she really has to pick the ring herself. Have you any real idea about her taste in this area? It's a really personal important thing - do not mess it up, let her pick, please!

just while on a casual chat take her hand and play some game.
take the sizes of all the fingers with a thread.
just keep a note of the size of the ring finger and place an order with that size. simple.
but it should be a casual affair like a game. to add more just take the wrist size and sizes of ur fingers also.so that she should not get a doubt.

Does she wear other rings on that finger? If so borrow it. Does her family know her ring finger size? You could ask them they might know. Or a friend that you trust. If not guess. Does she have small or big fingers? Then get a size and then you can resize it later. Good luck!!

I would either take a ring that she wears on that finger or on same finger but on other hand. If that can't be done and she is a heavy sleeper I would try and use a ring sizer when she's asleep. Good Luck!
